"I think I'll give up and let someone else worry about the bills!" This somewhat extreme statement seems to be the attitude that is dominating our generation. We need to be honest with ourselves. Wouldn't we all like to have someone else pay a little more and make it easier on us? Why shouldn't Social Security take care of me when things get tight?
The problem is, we've painted ourselves into a corner. We want to retain our independence from government intervention and at the same time take advantage of any benefit that might be available to us. There is nothing inherently wrong with either premise, but somewhere there needs to be a balance.
I believe the key to America's survival is not going to be found on the left side or the right side of any prevailing issue. The answer is simple, really. Most people don't see it though because they are not seeing the 'forest for the trees'. Our founding fathers incorporated this principle into most everything that is relevant to our country.
